Frank During, DVM and Clinic Owner
Dr. During grew up on a small farm in northern Germany and came to the USA in 1988 where he worked on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota. He spent one semester at the University of Minnesota where he met his wife Linda. They moved to Hannover, Germany where Dr. During studied Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1994. Dr. During purchased the Pierce Veterinary Clinic in 1998. The clinic outgrew it's previous facility and a new building was built in 2004. Dr. During enjoys football & is a Minnesota Vikings fan! He spends his free time with Linda, his cats & his Dexter cattle.
Becky Behrendt, DVM
Dr. Behrendt grew up in Manitowoc, WI. Growing up she had a variety of pets from ducks to ferrets. She received her undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology from UW Stevens Point and prior to attending Veterinary School she worked on several wildlife projects. In 2003 she graduated from UW-Madison College of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband, Dean moved to the area for a job as a small animal veterinarian in Red Wing upon graduation. She has also worked as a relief veterinarian for several years in the surrounding area. In 2006 Dr. Behrendt started working at the Pierce Vet Clinic. She practices exclusively small animal medicine and has a special interest in feline medicine. Dr. Behrendt also enjoys veterinary dentistry and surgery. She lives in Bay City with her husband, son and numerous pets. She and her family enjoy camping and outdoor activities.
Abbey Butler, DVM
Dr. Butler grew up on a family dairy farm in Amery, WI. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from UW-River Falls and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UW-Madison in 2006. She lives outside of Ellsworth with her significant other Rob and their two wonderful boys, Will and Wyatt. They have a high energy Border Collie named Rowdy that is a great help with the beef cattle they raise. Abbey joined the team at Pierce Veterinary clinic in 2016 after the birth of her second son. Abbey is a small animal practitioner who enjoys working with both cats and dogs. She has a special interest in behavior and strives to make your pet's visit as low stress as possible.
Cassie Rice, DVM
Dr. Rice grew up on a dairy farm in southwest Minnesota near the town of Edgerton. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Dairy Production from South Dakota State University. In 2018 she graduated from veterinary school at Iowa State University. Cassie and her husband Jake live near Hager City with their energetic Aussiedoodle Cooper. She started her position with Pierce Vet as a Large Animal Veterinarian in 2018, with a passion for working with dairy cattle. In her spare time Cassie enjoys quilting, reading, fishing, and attending tractor pulls with her husand.
Emily joined our practice in May 2010. She went to school at the Medical Institute of Minnesota, now known as Argosy University, and graduated in 1993 as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She lives in Ellsworth with her husband and two daughters. She also has a stepdaughter and a stepson. She has 4 wonderful cats. In her free time Emily enjoys the outdoors, four-wheeling, and spending time with family.
Shelby lives in Wisconsin with her husband Jackson, son Wesley, husky Brodie and naughty old cat Zoey. She lived in Alaska for three years and obtained her vet tech license there. She spends her free time with friends and family, and enjoys being outside walking and biking with Brodie, skijoring in the winter with him, and cooking/baking, reading and traveling. She is very happy in the career she has chosen and has special interests in surgery, anesthesia, dentistry and exotic animals. Her dream is to someday go back to visit Alaska and volunteer with sled dogs and to work with big cats and other wildlife.
Janice moved to Prescott in 2015 and began working at Pierce Vet Clinic shortly before receiving her associates degree in Veterinary Technology from Globe University. Prior to working with us, she worked on her family's farm, as a kennel attendant, and a receptionist at an emergency animal hospital in Appleton, WI. In her free time Janice enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and spending time with her pets and friends.
Michelle has been a certified veterinary technician since 2013 after receiving her associates degree from Argosy University. After graduating she worked at a small animal practice until joining the team at Pierce Veterinary Clinic in 2015. In her free time she enjoys taking care of her many pets, going horse back riding, and spending time with friends.
Linda During, Business Manager
Linda has been married to Dr. Frank During for over 25 wonderful years. They met at the University of Minnesota in 1989 and they moved to Germany for five years while Frank studied veterinary medicine. Together they purchased Pierce Vet Clinic in 1998. Since then, Linda has served as the practice’s business manager. She enjoys interior decorating and has created the color palette of the clinic as well as furnishings and art work throughout the building. Linda and Dr. During surround themselves with several house cats. Linda also enjoys perennial gardening. She devotes much of her spare time to feline rescue.
Anna, Client Service Representative
Anna has worked at the Pierce Veterinary Clinic since 2005. Prior to working with us, she worked at various humane societies and as a grooming assistant. Anna grew up in Menomonie, River Falls, and Pepin. Her pets include cats, dogs, and horses. In her spare time Anna enjoys horseback riding, camping & spending time with her husband Nathan and daughter Myla.
Stacia, Client Service Representative
Stacia joined our practice in May 2016. She lives in River Falls with her husband and dog. In her free time Stacia enjoys watching a Packer, Badger, or Brewer game. She enjoys interior design/ decorating shows and spending time with family, friends, and animals.
Sami graduated from Ellsworth High School in 2015. Shortly after she attended Rio Grooming in Hastings MN where she completed the 436 hour program to become a professional dog groomer. Before Sami joined the team at Pierce Vet Clinic she worked as a groomer/daycare attendant at a dog daycare/ boarding facility for a year. Sami enjoys grooming large and small breeds but her absolute favorite breed to groom is the Airedale Terrier. She has four pets. Jesse a German Shepherd, Sox a dutch rabbit mix, and Stan and Ollie her two cats. In Sami's free time she likes to hunt, enjoy the outdoors while walking her dogs, and watching movies.
