Veterinarians

 

Frank During, DVM and Clinic Owner
Dr. During grew up on a small farm in northern Germany and came to the USA in 1988 where he worked on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota. He spent one semester at the University of Minnesota where he met his wife Linda. They moved to Hannover, Germany where Dr. During studied Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1994. Dr. During purchased the Pierce Veterinary Clinic in 1998. The clinic outgrew it's previous facility and a new building was built in 2004. Dr. During enjoys football & is a Minnesota Vikings fan! He spends his free time with Linda, and his cats.

 

 

 

 

Becky Behrendt, DVM
Dr. Behrendt grew up in Manitowoc, WI. Growing up she had a variety of pets from ducks to ferrets. She received her undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology from UW Stevens Point and prior to attending Veterinary School she worked on several wildlife projects. In 2003 she graduated from UW-Madison College of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband, Dean moved to the area for a job as a small animal veterinarian in Red Wing upon graduation. She has also worked as a relief veterinarian for several years in the surrounding area. In 2006 Dr. Behrendt started working at the Pierce Vet Clinic. She practices exclusively small animal medicine and has a special interest in feline medicine. Dr. Behrendt also enjoys veterinary dentistry and surgery. She lives in Bay City with her husband, son and numerous pets. She and her family enjoy camping and outdoor activities.

 

 

 

Abbey Butler, DVM

Dr. Butler grew up on a family dairy farm in Amery, WI. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from UW-River Falls and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UW-Madison in 2006. She lives outside of Ellsworth with her significant other Rob and their 3 wonderful children, Will, Wyatt, and Charlotte. They have a high energy Border Collie named Rowdy that is a great help with the beef cattle they raise.  Dr. Abbey joined the team at Pierce Veterinary clinic in 2016 after the birth of her second son. Dr. Abbey is a small animal practitioner who enjoys working with both cats and dogs. She has a special interest in behavior and strives to make your pet's visit as low stress as possible.

 

 

 

Cassie Rice, DVM

Dr. Rice grew up on a dairy farm in southwest Minnesota near the town of Edgerton. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Dairy Production from South Dakota State University. In 2018 she graduated from veterinary school at Iowa State University. Dr. Cassie and her husband Jake live near Hager City with their two dogs, named Cooper and Murphy and two alpacas named Luey and Gideon.  Dr. Cassie started her position with PVC as a large animal veterinarian in 2018, but has since transitioned into a mixed animal position seeing both large and small animal patients. Dr. Cassie has developed a special interest in small ruminant medicine and client education. In her spare time, Dr. Cassie enjoys quilting and fishing.

Emily, Certified Veterinary Technician

Emily joined our practice in May 2010. She went to school at the Medical Institute of Minnesota, now known as Argosy University, and graduated in 1993 as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She lives in Ellsworth with her husband and two daughters. She also has a stepdaughter and a stepson. She has 3 wonderful cats. In her free time Emily enjoys the outdoors, four-wheeling, and spending time with family.

 

 

 

Jasmine, Certified Veterinary Technician

Jasmine joined our team in 2017 shortly after receiving her associates degree from Broadview University (formally know as Globe University). In her free time she enjoys camping, kayaking, fishing, spending time with her family & friends, and caring for her many animals at home.

 

Jessica, Certified Veterinary Technician

Jessica joined our team in 2021 after receiving her bachelor's degree of science and associate's degree from UWRF and WITC. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, reading, quilting, and spending time with her family, friends, and four cats. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Allison, Certified Veterinary Technician

Allison grew up in central Wisconsin in a town called Tigerton,Wi. She attended UW-River Falls to earn her bachelor's of animal science and continued schooling at MATC to earn her associate's in veterinary technician. In her free time she enjoys making maple syrup in the spring, being outdoors, and traveling. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sami, Veterinary Assistant

Sami has been part of our team since 2017. She started as a groomer, and has now moved on to being a Vet Assistant/Recepionist. Sami is currently attending an online course through Penn Foster and is working toward becoming a certified technician! She has a love for both large and small animals. In her free time she enjoys hunting, working on her friends family farms, and hiking with her Standard Poodle; Allis-Chalmers. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Briana , Veterinary Assistant 

Briana joined our team in 2022, and is currently in her last semester studying as a pre-vet student with UWRF. She plans to become a vet technician and apply to vet schools in the near future with an interest in sonography. Bri enjoys hiking, hunting, and watching true crime documentaries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Morgan, Veterinary Assistant 

Morgan grew up in River Falls, Wisconsin and graduated from RFHS in 2022. She is currently studying Biochemistry on the Pre-Veterinary track. Morgan has an American Staffordshire Terrier named Sol and a Quarter Horse named Jackson who she does dressage with. Morgan previously attended Montana State University as a showing member of the Western Equestrian team. She enjoys all things outdoors, especially rock-climbing and kayaking.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jenna, Veterinary Assistant

Jenna grew up in Linwood MN. She is currently attending UWRF studying Equine science with a pre-vet emphasis. After she graduates she is hoping to attend vet school to become a DVM speacializing in epuine sports medicine and rehabilitation working specifically with both on and off the track racehorses. When Jenna is not in school or working she can be seen working with her 10 year old Thoroughbred Zephyr. They compete in both pleasure and speed events. Jenna also enjoys managing her photography business, ShutterStockinger. 

Support Staff

 

Linda During, Business Manager

Linda has been married to Dr. Frank During for over 30 wonderful years. They met at the University of Minnesota in 1989 and they moved to Germany for five years while Frank studied veterinary medicine.  Together they purchased Pierce Vet Clinic in 1998. Since then, Linda has served as the practice’s business manager. She enjoys interior decorating and has created the color palette of the clinic as well as furnishings and art work throughout the building. Linda and Dr. During surround themselves with several house cats. Linda also enjoys perennial gardening. She devotes much of her spare time to feline rescue.

 

 



 

Anna, Client Service Representative

Anna has worked at the Pierce Veterinary Clinic since 2005. She lives in River Falls.  Prior to working with us, she worked at various humane societies and as a grooming assistant.  Her pets include cats, dogs, a horse, 3 rats, and chickens. In her spare time Anna enjoys gardening, camping & spending time with her husband Nathan and daughter Myla.

Zoey, Clinic Cat

Zoey arrived at the clinic in 2012. Zoey is currently enrolled in the Witness Protection Program. Rarely seen or heard from!

 

Leo, Clinic Cat (aka-"The Best Kitty in the Whole World")

Leo has graced all of us with his presence since May of 2015. Leo is in charge of building security. He holds a black belt in karate- not a dude to mess with!

 

Ivan, Clinic Cat 

Ivan came to us on Christmas day 2017. He has a degree in good looks and personality. This handsome guy lives for attention and affection.  His hobbies include cuddling, playing and meal time.
