Veterinarians
Frank During, DVM and Clinic Owner
Dr. During grew up on a small farm in northern Germany and came to the USA in 1988, where he worked on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota. He spent one semester at the University of Minnesota, where he met his wife Linda. They moved to Hannover, Germany where Dr. During studied Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1994.
Dr. During purchased the Pierce Veterinary Clinic in 1998. The clinic outgrew its previous facility and a new building was built in 2004. Dr. During enjoys football & is a Minnesota Vikings fan! He spends his free time with Linda and his cats.
Becky Behrendt, DVM
Dr. Behrendt grew up in Manitowoc, WI. Growing up, she had a variety of pets, from ducks to ferrets. She received her undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology from UW Stevens Point, and before attending Veterinary School, she worked on several wildlife projects. In 2003, she graduated from UW-Madison College of Veterinary Medicine.
Upon Graduation, Dr. Behrendt and her husband, Dean, moved to the area for a job as a small animal veterinarian in Red Wing. During that time, she worked as a relief veterinarian in the surrounding areas for several years. In 2006, Dr. Behrendt started working at the Pierce Veterinary Clinic, where she exclusively practices small animal medicine.
In addition to working with small animals, she is passionate about feline medicine, veterinary dentistry, and surgery. She lives in Bay City, Wisconsin, with her husband, son, and numerous pets. When Dr. Behrendt is not working, she and her family enjoy camping and outdoor activities.
Alyce Hines, DVM
Dr. Alyce Hines is an Ellsworth native! As she grew up, Dr. Hines spent a majority of her time on the family dairy farm and pet sitting as well as holding several other jobs within the community and being an active member of FFA.
Dr. Hines received her bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Dairy Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Before veterinary school, she completed a one year internship as a herd assistant for a 5,000 head dairy in New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Hines obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies.
Following graduation, Dr. Hines journeyed from practicing strictly large animal medicine to mixed animal medicine to strictly small animal medicine. Dr. Hines is passionate about both the science of veterinary medicine as well as the fragility of animals and their owners by being a compassionate, empathic healer.
When she is not caring for animals and their owners, Dr. Hines enjoys being outdoors and participating in outdoor activities including four-wheeling and snowmobiling. In the attached picture, you
will find her Caribbean rescue dog and partner in crime named Macy.
Technicians
Emily, Certified Veterinary Technician
Emily joined our practice in May 2010. She attended school at the Medical Institute of Minnesota, currently known as Argosy University, and graduated in 1993 as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Emily lives in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, with her husband and two daughters. She also has three wonderful cats, a dog, a stepdaughter, and a stepson. In her free time, Emily enjoys the outdoors, four-wheeling, and spending time with her family.
Jessica, Certified Veterinary Technician
Jasmine, Veterinary Technician
Jasmine joined our team in 2017, shortly after receiving her associate's degree from Broadview University, previously known as Globe University.
She lives in Ellsworth, Wisconsin with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys camping, fishing, spending time with her family and friends, and caring for her many animals at home.
Jana, Veterinary Technician
Jana started with us through an internship at Rochester Community Technical College in 2024. She has a background with large and small animals and enjoys working with exotics.
Jana has a daughter, along with three cats, a dog, and a rat. In her free time, she enjoys embroidery, attending concerts, and expanding her knowledge in the veterinary field. Jana is also a Minnesota Vikings fan!
Briana, Veterinary Assistant
Briana has been a part of our team since 2022 and resides in the Ellsworth, Wisconsin area with her boyfriend and two cats.
She is currently applying for vet school hoping to later specialize in radiology. In her free time she enjoys hunting, reading and watching true crime documentaries.
Support Staff
Linda During, Business Manager
Linda has been married to Dr. Frank During for over 30 wonderful years. They met at the University of Minnesota in 1989 and moved to Germany for five years while Frank studied veterinary medicine.
Together, they purchased the Pierce Veterinary Clinic in 1998. Since then, Linda has served as the practice’s business manager. She enjoys interior decorating and personally created the color palette for the clinic as well as furnishings and artwork throughout the building.
Linda and Dr. During surround themselves with several house cats and devote their spare time to feline rescue. Linda also enjoys perennial gardening.
Anna, Client Service Representative
Anna has worked at the Pierce Veterinary Clinic since 2005. She lives in River Falls, Wisconsin, with her husband Nathan and daughter Myla.
Before working with us, she worked at various humane societies as a grooming assistant. Her pets include cats, dogs, and chickens. In her spare time, Anna enjoys gardening, camping & spending time with her family.
